What our kids learn just by being with us.

Helping Knowledge Seekers
Right off the bat, I have a favor to ask: we would really appreciate your help sharing our summer camps. If you could post in Facebook groups and tell friends and family, we’d be so grateful. Camps are not just for homeschooling kids. Thank you!

What Just Being With You Teaches Your Kids

The boys have been coming with me on so many jobs ever since they were babies. I have a background in supporting families—from childcare to cleaning, meal planning to starting Knowledge Seekers. My boys have tagged along as I work, build relationships, and live a wonderful life. They don’t know it, but they are learning so many things just by being with me.

I was thinking about this today as we were driving back from face painting at Oaks Park Roller Rink for Homeschool STEM and Skate (every 1st Monday). I sometimes feel bad that they have to tag along so much, but I love the balance that homeschooling brings to our family. I get to be with my boys and also work. By taking them with me, I show them what’s out in the world and how being part of others’ lives brings joy and connection. All of my ventures are based on building relationships.

Here is a list of the wonderful things my kids learn just by being with me. This list could be much, much longer:

  • When you put love and positivity out into the world, you get it back.
  • Building relationships and community is the heart of an enriched life.
  • We all deserve respect—even little humans.
  • The best way to clean counters, floors, and other surfaces is to use a systematic pattern.
  • People are raising amazing little beings, and kids are secretly cute. (Boys would never admit this. 🙂)
  • When we give kids the opportunity to be themselves in a safe environment, they bloom.
  • Creativity comes in all forms—artistic, mechanical, and in our thinking.
  • Thinking outside the box is important to daily life.
  • My Mama is actually awesome, and I want to be just (but also myself) like her! 😄

What was your favorite on the list?
