What is it all about: KSHC

One Year Celebration: September 7th, 10am. Everyone is welcome, bring friends.

What is it all about? KSHC

It is all about the STUDENTS! My kids wanted a place to do hands-on projects that they chose. Simple! It’s not complicated. Kids should get a say in what and how they learn. We are here as their guides and support. Knowledge Seekers asks students questions and helps to create learning opportunities that are meaningful and interesting to them.

No waiting until middle school to learn about acids and bases, bacteria experiments, and other “more advanced” activities. This past year was a perfect time because our students were interested. The best time to learn something is when there is interest—drop everything else and go with the passion.

Some wonderful learning from last school year: Painting, sculpting, finger knitting, baking, candle making, watercolors, paper art, mini engineering challenges, building a playground, rubber band cars, biomes, Antarctica, animals, Guatemala, how kids can change the world, caves and cavemen, archaeology, Lunar New Year… and so, so much more!

✨ Did you know that Teachers Pay Teachers is a great place to find low-cost and FREE resources for all subjects?

✍️ Quill is another resource I’ve used for grammar and spelling. The boys found it helpful and were more than happy to add it to their week for just 10 minutes a day.

💻 Resource Spotlight: AI

We’ve been trying out TYB.AI, and it’s an interesting resource for the boys and me.

Owl & Bee Clay Company was founded in 2015 by Micki Skudlarczyk. Here, children can explore their own unique thoughts, feelings and ideas through the medium of clay. Kids learn hand-building techniques using earthenware clay and surface embellishment through drawing and painting with colored glazes. We celebrate each child’s unique relationship with their artwork, helping to build self esteem and foster a lifelong relationship with the joy of art-making.
