Blooms School: Blossom is a safe, loving, inclusive place providing an alternative education option for 3rd-5th graders located in SE Portland. I provide full-day care and instruction in all subjects. Summer care is also available. Mondays through Thursdays are our main school days, with Friday as an optional enrichment day for fun projects like dioramas, animal reports, cooking lessons, etc. Special activities like school store, poetry tea time, and seasonal field trips add to the fun! With a small group (my maximum number is five students), students have been able to make academic progress at a rate that puts them an entire grade level ahead and, more importantly, to love learning. Healthy, close friendships are prioritized as well. If you’d like more information or to set up a meeting, please feel free to reach out to Christine at 541-868-5530. Located in SE Portland.

Village Home: Village Home is dedicated to serving learners and their families on their education journeys that start at home. We are here to provide classes and community to enrich your homeschool life! It is our pleasure to make learning fun for your whole family! We offer individual choice classes and also the Rivers Day Program. Rivers is a two-day-a-week program for learners ages 5-14. Located in Beaverton. https://www.villagehome.org

Bright School House: At Bright Schoolhouse, our mission is to provide a nurturing, creative, and engaging learning environment that inspires and supports the growth and development of creative, bright, and gifted children. We serve as a bridge, preparing them for success in their next educational environment and beyond. Located in West Linn, https://www.brightschoolhouse.org

Village Free School: The Village Free School is a non-profit, independent school serving people ages 5-18 located in Portland, Oregon. Established in 2004, VFS was inspired by the question: what if schools were different?

Based on a foundation of Care, Freedom, and Democracy, VFS practices self-directed education to support kids in becoming autonomous, creative, and thoughtful citizens able to make change and collaborate with others. Located in NE Portland. https://www.villagefreeschool.org

Other Family and Parenting Support

Macie LaRae:
Macie is a homeschool success coach. Whether you’re just getting started on your homeschool journey or feeling stuck in the process, she has the tools to support you. We go at the pace of joy! She also offers a middle school (grades 6-8) pod for language arts and math, meeting from 12:30–2:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, in Milwaukie. macielarae11@gmail.com

I feel so lucky to live in a place that values alternative education and is at the forefront of this educational movement.
