I believe that I heard this information when I listened to Jennifer Pastiloff’s book “On Being Human” years ago.” The bullshit stories we tell ourselves.
This is not a new concept, but sometimes we hear things at the right time and maybe this time is for you.
We constantly tell ourselves bullshit stories. Everyone’s story is different, but I think we all do it whether we know it or not.
I don’t think it would take long for you to recall a bullshit story that you told or still tell yourself.
Take a moment and think about it.
Maybe you tell yourself “I have to earn X amount of money and then…….” Maybe you tell yourself you’re not worthy of a certain type of love. Maybe you tell yourself you’re not worthy of a certain lifestyle.
The basic idea is that we really get in the way of our own progress.
Take the bullshit story, let it go, and reframe it into something that is true that you want to be true.
I recently called out my 87-year-old father-in-law for the bullshit stories he told himself about being a burden on his family.
When I started Knowledge Seekers, I had to check what bullshit stories I had surrounding starting a school.
What bullshit stories are you telling yourself?
Quick, think about it, acknowledge them, put them in the trash, and positively reframe what you want to be true.
